Reconstituted Stones

A non-porous, easy-care engineered stone that can be worked and shaped in the same way as marble and granite. Engineered stone is man made and consists of a mixture of minerals, metals and resins. The two major ingredients are the filler (natural mineral and coloured glass, metal and oyster shells) and the Binder (a resin) these are mixed and cast cured to produce stone slabs.

The manufacturing process of engineered stone ensures uniformity of colour, finish, cracks or pores. It’s available in a honed or high gloss finish, slab or tile format and is produced in a variety of colours.

Natural

Marble is a metamorphic rock that forms when limestone or dolomite is buried and subject to intense heat and pressure within the Earth’s crust. It is formed over thousands of years by pressure. Multiple types of minerals form together to create it’s unique colour and texture. It is an organic, soft material that can be scratched, stained and chipped easier than other products. It is not recommended for use as kitchen benchtops.

Granite is an igenious rock and a much harder material than marble. It is formed when magma (molten rock) is forced between other rocks in the Earth’s crust. It cools and crystallises deep underground. As it cools slowly, large crystals of granite are formed. It is strong, hard and tough and best used for outside kitchens and BBQ’s.

As marble and granite are natural, each slab is different. Clients can choose their slab directly from our suppliers e.g. Finestone. After choosing a slab, we suggest our clients come to our showroom and mark out where they want cuts.
